Family Travel Bucket List

I’m just going to say it: they’re going to grow up and leave you.  You only have so much time left with them!  Sorry…

But truly, think: how often do you take big trips with your parents these days?  Maybe you still do, but in my family, my parents aren’t footing the bill to Europe very often.  Actually, never.  We really just have a finite about of time to have great travel experiences with our kids.  A good friend of mine recently realized that she only has about 6-7 summers left with her 6th grader.  Once they’re off to college, who knows what kinds of summer internships and jobs will occupy their time – not to mention friends, girlfriends, and anything else way cooler than mom…

But this prompted her to make a “bucket list” of all the special trips she wants to take with her kids.  We all have the annual vacations that we’re committed to each year.  And if you’re like me and have out-of-town family, seeing them always soaks up a large chunk of the travel budget.  So when we made our list, we limited ourselves to just 1 big trip per year.  Who knows if this will be how life goes… but it was a fun exercise and will be something for us to reference when we’re trying to plan.

Here’s a printable that you can use to make your family’s list – write in pencil… your plans will change!

And here’s ours (just for some inspiration):
